KIRK LEFCOVITCH SHOCKS SUTTON WITH SEXUAL PREDATION ON 11-YEAR-OLD BOY
In a disturbing case that has sent shockwaves through the Sutton community, Kirk Lefcovitch, a 25-year-old man with known ties to the Jehovah’s Witness faith, was found guilty of attempting to entice an 11-year-old boy into engaging in sexual acts. The incident, which took place in December of the previous year, was brought to light after Lefcovitch voluntarily turned himself in to authorities following advice from a counsellor at Cambridge’s Centre 33, an organization dedicated to providing guidance to young people up to the age of 25.During the court proceedings at Cambridge Crown Court, it was revealed that Lefcovitch had repeatedly asked the young boy to perform sexual acts. The court heard that he had also handed the child pornography and sex toys, further demonstrating his predatory behavior. Prosecutor Sara Walker detailed the disturbing interactions, stating, “In December last year Mr Lefcovitch asked the 11-year-old to expose himself, and the boy refused. The defendant then offered to show the boy his privates, to which the boy replied that he didn’t want to see it. He then showed the victim some pornographic material and explicitly told him he wanted to have sex with him.”
It was also disclosed that Lefcovitch and the young victim had communicated via phone calls, during which Lefcovitch made inappropriate and suggestive comments. Despite his admissions, Lefcovitch’s past convictions cast a long shadow over the case. Notably, he had previously been convicted in 2000 for a series of sexual assaults on an 8-year-old boy, a fact that underscored the seriousness of his current actions.
Defense lawyer Georgina Gibbs highlighted Lefcovitch’s unusual decision to confess, emphasizing that it was rare for someone with his history to take such a step. She explained that he had been actively seeking help from Centre 33 and his Jehovah’s Witness community, and that he was making efforts to turn his life around. “He has thrown away all his porn and has been deliberately excluding himself from activities that could bring him into contact with children,” she stated.
Despite these efforts, the court was advised that Lefcovitch remains a significant risk to children. The pre-sentence report described him as a serious danger, given his prior convictions and current behavior. Judge Anthony Bate acknowledged the gravity of the case, noting that the offense could have escalated further. He remarked, “There was clearly an intention for the offence with the 11-year-old to go further than it did, but the prison sentences suggested in my guidelines would not be long enough for you to complete a sex offender’s course in prison.”
Instead of a custodial sentence, Lefcovitch was ordered to participate in the Thames Valley Programme, a community-based sex offender treatment course. Additionally, he was handed a three-year community order with supervision requirements and ordered to pay £400 in court costs. The case has left the Sutton community deeply concerned about the safety of its children and the ongoing efforts needed to prevent such disturbing incidents from recurring.
