March 2019 Sex offender jailed after using Snapchat in breach of court order A man jailed for trying to groom a young girl online has been locked up again after breaching court orders. Barry Boschen, 44, of no fixed address but formerly from Sutton, London, admitted two charges of breaching a Sexual Harm Prevention Order between August 20 and 29 last year. He also admitted failing to comply with a requirement to register with police when in North Wales and possessing an indecent image of a teenage girl, and was jailed for 10 months. Judge Huw Rees told him Probation Service officers were worried about the risk he poses to teenage girls “You must tread very carefully,” said the judge. Boschen had appeared from custody at Caernarfon Crown Court last week for sentence, but that hearing was halted when he began arguing with the judge. As he was led away to begin his sentence, Boschen apologised to the judge. The judge said Boschen had travelled to North Wales to meet a teenage girl he had contacted online. The court heard he had been sentenced to a 12-month prison term at Chester Crown Court last March. Boschen was also given a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order after pleading guilty to engaging in sexual communication with a child. The order stipulated he could only use online applications where the viewing history can be stored. Boschen admitted using Snapchat, a social media service where messages are only available for a short time before becoming inaccessible. He was also required to register any electronic devices capable of accessing the internet to police, but had failed to do so with a laptop. He had failed to report where he was living to police and was found asleep in his car at Fairbourne near Dolgellau close to a building used by teenagers. The judge ordered the laptop and a mobile phone be confiscated. April 2018 Quick-thinking mum sets up Snapchat pervert and blocks his van so police could arrest him A middle-aged pervert was jailed thanks to a quick-thinking mum who blocked in his van after he tried to arrange a meeting. Barry Boschen, 44, was sentenced to 12 months in prison and handed a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order after pleading guilty to engaging in sexual communication with a child Cheshire police said Boschen, of Benhill Avenue, Sutton, London, had posed as a 21-year-old from London on Snapchat and befriended his 12-year-old victim from Runcorn, Cheshire, after she accepted a friend request. But the girl’s mum discovered Boschen’s account when she was checking her daughter’s social media. She dug deeper and found sexually explicit messages that Boschen had sent over a period of a month, along with requests to meet up – despite the girl telling him she was only 15. After speaking with her daughter the woman contacted the police and officers launched an investigation. However, the following day she noticed that Boschen had uploaded a comment asking if anyone was in Chester or Runcorn and wanted to meet up. The girl’s mum and a relative went to a nearby fast food restaurant in Runcorn where they predicted Boschen would be. They spotted Boschen sitting in a van and the mum used her car to block him in his parking space. She called police who arrived and arrested him.
