RICHARD EMERSON CAUGHT IN SUTTON WITH OVER 5,000 CHILD PORNOGRAPHY IMAGES

In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Sutton, an IT technician named Richard Emmerson has been sentenced to prison after authorities uncovered a vast collection of illegal images stored on his personal computer. The incident came to light in February 2002, when police executed a search warrant at his residence in Sutton, under the authority of the Protection of Children Act.

Richard Mark Emmerson, aged 22 at the time, was known online by the nickname 'Pee-Pedo-Uk,' a moniker that reflected his disturbing activities on the internet. He used Internet relay chat (IRC) platforms to offer others access to his private file server, which contained a horrifying collection of indecent images involving children. The police investigation revealed that Emmerson had amassed more than 5,000 such images, which included photographs and videos depicting young girls from newborns up to twelve years old. These images were particularly heinous, showing scenes of sexual abuse by adults, as well as acts involving urination and defecation.

The arrest took place on February 10, 2002, when officers from the Obscene Publications and Internet Unit raided his Sutton home. During the search, they seized his computer and related equipment, uncovering the extensive collection of illegal material stored in his files. It was reported that Emmerson spent up to five hours each day distributing these images, highlighting the extent of his involvement in the circulation of child exploitation content.

Further investigations revealed that Emmerson had also stored a significant number of these illicit images on his former employer’s computer network, where he worked as an IT technician. This added a layer of complexity to the case, as it involved potential breaches of workplace security and misuse of professional resources.

In court, Emmerson pleaded guilty to 17 counts of distributing indecent images of children. His sentencing took place at Kingston Crown Court, where the judge imposed a prison term of two and a half years. Additionally, the judge ordered that Emmerson be subject to a three-year sex offender treatment order upon his release from prison. As part of the legal consequences, he will also be registered on the sex offenders register, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his activities post-release.

This case underscores the serious nature of child exploitation crimes and the efforts of law enforcement agencies to combat the distribution and possession of such illegal material. The community of Sutton and beyond is reminded of the importance of vigilance and the relentless pursuit of justice in protecting vulnerable children from exploitation.
