UPDATE: 34, of NFA, St Austell has been sent to Truro Crown Court charged with raping a woman in Wadebridge on 27 November. He pleaded guilty to failing to comply with the notification requirements of the Sex Offenders’ Register by failing to notify police within three days of release from custody on 17 November. He was remanded in custody and his case listed for 7 January. Between June 17 and June 25, Oversby pursued a course of conduct that amounted to the stalking of a woman at her address in Penzance. Oversby constantly messaged the woman, appeared at her house unannounced, loitered in and even slept in her garden. Then, on December 3 2021, Oversby assaulted a man and a woman in Redruth by beating them. Finally, on March 3 2022, Oversby failed without reasonable cause to surrender at Truro Magistrates' Court, or as soon after that time as was reasonably practicable, having been released on bail in criminal proceedings. During his sentencing, Oversby was sentenced to 15 weeks imprisonment and was made the subject of a restraining order of which he is banned from contacting the woman he stalked, while also being banned from entering the road on which she lives. He was also made to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £128 and also pay costs of £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service. The court noted that the seriousness of the offences, which including persistent stalking which had a serious impact on the victim, together with violent offences and fail to surrender, there was no other alternative to custody.
