NOTTINGHAM MAN LEO FARODOYE SENTENCED FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES IN MANCHESTER
A man from Nottingham, Leo Farodoye, has been handed a lengthy prison sentence after being found guilty of multiple serious child sex offences committed in Manchester. The court proceedings revealed disturbing details about his actions, which included the exploitation of two teenage girls at an apartment in Manchester city centre.
Farodoye, born on May 8, 1990, and residing on North Road in Nottingham, was sentenced on Friday, September 20, 2024, at Manchester Crown Court.
His sentence totals 11 years and 4 months, comprising a primary term of 7 years and 4 months, with an additional four-year extended license period.
The court's decision came after a series of convictions related to child sexual abuse, including inciting a child to engage in sexual acts, breaching a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), engaging in sexual acts with a minor, and taking indecent photographs of a child.
Prior to this sentencing, Farodoye had already been convicted at the same court on May 24, 2024.
His criminal record was further complicated by a breach of a SHPO that had been imposed in 2014, indicating a pattern of disregard for court orders designed to protect children.
The court heard how Farodoye had traveled from Nottingham to Manchester, booking an Airbnb apartment in the city centre from December 12, 2023, to February 27, 2024.
He claimed to be in Manchester for a relaxing weekend with his wife, but his true intentions were far more sinister.
On Sunday, February 18, 2024, when he arrived at the apartment, he was observed with two young females, aged 15 and 17.
This was inconsistent with the story he had given to the property owner, prompting concern and the subsequent involvement of police.
When police arrived at the scene, Farodoye made a swift escape through an upstairs window.
The two girls confirmed their ages to officers and disclosed that they had traveled across the UK specifically to meet with Farodoye.
They had initially told their families they were participating in a photography shoot, but the truth was far more disturbing.
One of the victims recounted that she first met Farodoye at an address in Nottingham in October 2023, during which she was given alcohol and photographed.
She also revealed that she had been subjected to sexual assault during that encounter.
Further investigation uncovered evidence of Farodoye’s illicit activities.
Police found a setup of photography equipment, including lighting and backdrop screens, in various rooms of the apartment.
A search of the premises also uncovered a significant collection of sexualized underwear and clothing, a substantial amount of cash, and a bottle containing white powder.
In an attempt to hide evidence, Farodoye later discarded a backpack containing additional photography gear, which was recovered later in Manchester city centre.
Following his escape, Farodoye was arrested on suspicion of engaging in sexual activity with a minor.
He was taken into custody and interviewed under caution at Pendleton Police Station on the evening of February 21, 2024.
His arrest was further extended to include allegations of rape, breach of the SHPO, and violations of his obligations as a Registered Sex Offender (RSO).
The case highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat child exploitation and bring offenders like Farodoye to justice, especially when they attempt to evade detection by traveling across regions to commit their crimes.
