DUNCAN ANDERSON CAUGHT IN CARRINGTON AND NOTTINGHAM IN DISTURBING CHILD PORNOGRAPHY AND VOYEURISM CASE
In November 2003, a disturbing case involving Duncan Anderson, a resident of Carrington, Nottingham, came to light, revealing a pattern of predatory behavior targeting young children in local school areas. The incident unfolded when Anderson was observed engaging in covert filming activities outside two unnamed schools in Nottingham, a city known for its historic sites and vibrant communities.According to court reports, Anderson was seen parking his white Transit van, which bore the registration H-plate, in close proximity to the school playgrounds during lunchtime. Witnesses and school staff had no suspicion at first, as the vehicle appeared ordinary and the driver’s actions seemed routine. However, what transpired behind the scenes was far more sinister. Anderson was recorded climbing into the back of his van, where he had set up a makeshift viewing hole, through which he secretly filmed children playing and sharing sweets in the sunshine.
Prosecutor Noel Philo described the scene at Nottingham Crown Court, stating, “He admits parking outside the schools, climbing into the rear of his Transit van and preparing a viewing hole to film the children.” The footage captured by Anderson was described as “chilling” by investigators, as it showed children completely unaware of his presence. Detective Sergeant Paul Winter, from Nottingham’s dangerous persons management unit, explained, “The children had no knowledge at all he was there. He was taking the time to zoom in and focus on the skirts of the girls in the playground. He was only a few yards away.”
Further investigations uncovered even more disturbing evidence. Officers found a collection of pornographic images, including a photograph of a naked four-year-old girl, among other images depicting the lower bodies of women. This collection was part of a broader investigation into Anderson’s activities. When police raided his one-bedroom flat in Watcombe Circus, Carrington, in September, they recovered the van, video equipment, and the incriminating tape of the children.
In addition to the child exploitation material, Anderson was found in possession of a small quantity of cannabis. His arrest and subsequent court appearances revealed admissions to possessing indecent photographs of children and taking indecent images of minors. At Mansfield Magistrates’ Court, Anderson pleaded guilty to these charges, along with two breaches of a sex offenders’ order issued under the Crime and Disorder Act 1998.
His sentencing at Nottingham Crown Court resulted in an 18-month prison term. Furthermore, upon release, Anderson will be subject to a 30-month period of licence, during which any further law-breaking could lead to additional imprisonment, including serving any new sentences alongside the remaining licence period. This case highlights the ongoing efforts of Nottingham law enforcement to combat child exploitation and protect vulnerable members of the community from predators like Duncan Anderson.
