LEE HENSON CAUGHT IN NOTTINGHAM BY PAEDOPHILE HUNTING TEAM AND AVOIDS PRISON
In November 2018, a disturbing case unfolded in Nottingham involving Lee Derek Henson, a resident of Top Valley, who was caught in a sting operation conducted by a dedicated paedophile hunting team. The incident highlighted the ongoing efforts of community groups to protect children from online predators and the serious legal consequences faced by those attempting to exploit minors.
Henson appeared before the court to face charges related to his online conduct.
He admitted to engaging in sexual communication with individuals he believed to be two young girls, aged 12 and 13.
The court was informed that Henson had initiated contact through online profiles, which he thought belonged to the minors.
Over the course of their interactions, he sent a series of sexually explicit messages, clearly intending to arrange or engage in sexual activity with the supposed children.
However, the individuals Henson believed to be the young girls were not real children.
They were, in fact, adult members of the paedophile hunting team known as ‘Parental Online Protection’ (P.O.P).
This team conducts undercover operations by posing as minors online to identify and catch predators attempting to exploit children.
The operation was part of a broader effort to safeguard vulnerable minors from online sexual predators.
Following the investigation, the court sentenced Henson to a three-year community order, emphasizing the seriousness of his actions.
Additionally, he was subjected to a five-year sexual harm prevention order, which restricts his activities and interactions to prevent further offending.
As part of his legal obligations, Henson was also ordered to register as a sex offender for a period of five years, ensuring ongoing monitoring and public safety measures.
This case underscores the importance of vigilant online safety practices and the ongoing efforts by law enforcement and community groups to combat online sexual exploitation.
It also serves as a stark reminder of the legal repercussions faced by individuals who attempt to prey on children through digital platforms, especially in Nottingham and beyond.
