MUHAMMED IRFAN SENTENCED TO 19 YEARS IN BIRMINGHAM FOR CHILD RAPE
A man named Muhammed Irfan, aged 35 and residing in Sparkhill, Birmingham, has been handed a lengthy prison sentence after being convicted of heinous crimes involving the sexual abuse and rape of a young girl. The conviction follows a detailed five-day trial at Birmingham Crown Court, where the jury found Irfan guilty of raping a child under the age of 13.
Throughout the proceedings, the court heard how Irfan had systematically exploited his young victim over a period of three years, subjecting her to repeated acts of abuse and assault.
The victim, who bravely testified in court, recounted the trauma she endured and the profound impact it has had on her life.
Her statement revealed the deep scars left by Irfan’s actions, emphasizing how the abuse disrupted her childhood and caused lasting emotional damage.
In her testimony, the girl described herself as a mischievous child during her early years, often fighting with boys, being disruptive in class, answering teachers back, and skipping lessons.
She expressed that only now, as she has grown older, she begins to understand the reasons behind her behavior, which she now recognizes as a response to the abuse she suffered.
She also conveyed her relief and gratitude that her suffering has been acknowledged and that Irfan has been held accountable.
Despite her happiness that he will be imprisoned, she admitted that moving on from her past remains a challenge, and she continues to grapple with the emotional aftermath of her experiences.
Detective Constable Tom Parkes, from the Public Protection Unit, commented on the case, emphasizing the importance of supporting victims.
He stated, “This young girl should have been enjoying her school years and preparing for adulthood.
The abuse she suffered has clearly had a long-term traumatic effect, and I hope this sentence helps to put her on the road to recovery.” He further highlighted the role of specialized agencies that provide ongoing support from the moment a crime is reported, through investigation and trial, and beyond.
On September 18, Irfan was sentenced to 19 years in prison, with an additional one-year extended license period.
The court also ordered that he will not be eligible to apply for parole for at least ten years.
Furthermore, Irfan will remain on the Sex Offender Register for life, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his activities and preventing further harm to others.
