MARIUS GUSTAVSON'S HORRIFIC CRIMES IN LONDON EXPOSED: EXTREME BODY MODIFICATIONS AND ILLEGAL SURGERIES UNVEILED
A disturbing network involved in performing extreme body modifications and conducting illegal surgical procedures has been dismantled by Metropolitan Police detectives, leading to the conviction and imprisonment of seven men.The investigation, which uncovered a series of heinous crimes, culminated in a court hearing at the Old Bailey on Thursday, 9 May, where the offenders received a combined sentence of 79 years in prison.
Authorities initiated the probe after a victim was identified by Devon and Cornwall Police in November 2020.
It was established that the illegal activities had taken place in North London, prompting a detailed investigation by the Metropolitan Police’s Specialist Crime Command.
Central to this case was Marius Theodore Gustavson, aged 46, a resident of Haringey, who was identified as the primary perpetrator after a lengthy and complex inquiry.
His involvement was confirmed through extensive digital evidence and victim testimonies.
Gustavson, along with six other accomplices, was sentenced to life imprisonment, with a minimum tariff of 22 years.
The charges against him included conspiring to cause grievous bodily harm, five counts of causing grievous bodily harm with intent, as well as serious charges related to child exploitation, including making and distributing indecent photographs of children.
Additional charges involved possession of extreme pornographic images and distributing pseudo images of children, highlighting the depravity of the crimes committed.
The court proceedings revealed that Gustavson exploited the internet to locate and manipulate vulnerable individuals, coercing them into undergoing dangerous and illegal procedures.
Detective Inspector Amanda Greig from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command emphasized the dedication of the investigative team, noting that they had examined thousands of hours of horrific material seized from the suspects.
She praised their professionalism, stating that their efforts had ensured that no further victims would suffer at the hands of these men.
Following the sentencing, DI Greig expressed gratitude to the victims for their bravery and resilience throughout the investigation.
She acknowledged the profound mental health issues many victims faced as a result of the brutal acts committed by the group.
Support was provided by specialist officers, and victims were directed to appropriate services through GALOP, a charity dedicated to supporting LGBT+ victims of abuse.
Investigators collaborated with various agencies, including other UK police forces, the NHS, London Ambulance Service, the General Medical Council, and the Midwifery Council, to identify and support those affected.
It was uncovered that Gustavson operated a website called ‘Eunuchmaker.com,’ where he advertised extreme body modification services such as castration and penis removal.
He also owned a production company that recorded the illegal procedures, uploading the videos to his website, which attracted an international audience.
Victim-survivors provided statements after being assaulted between February 2017 and January 2020.
In at least three cases, the injuries inflicted were life-threatening, with one victim narrowly escaping death due to severe blood loss.
Medical experts, including Consultant Urological Surgeon Mr.
Chris Dawson, highlighted the dangers of such unregulated procedures, emphasizing that they should only be performed in sterile hospital environments by qualified professionals.
Dawson warned of serious complications like excessive bleeding and sepsis, which are risks when procedures are carried out in unsafe conditions.
A search of Gustavson’s residence uncovered various items linked to his illegal activities, including medical needles, syringes, local anesthetic packs, surgical tools, a wooden chopping board, a mallet, a body board with restraints, disposable skin staplers, and numerous videos of procedures stored on his digital devices.
As the investigation progressed, authorities discovered that Gustavson was not acting alone.
Over 120 digital devices were examined, leading to the identification of other offenders through video footage and communication records.
Arrests were made at various locations across London, Scotland, Birmingham, and South Wales.
Notably, Stefan Scharf, a German national, was detained while in transit at Heathrow Airport.
The majority of the illegal activities took place at Gustavson’s former home and a rented hotel room in London, where the suspects carried out and documented their gruesome procedures.
The investigation continues as authorities work to ensure justice for all victims and prevent further crimes of this nature.
