SALAH UDDIN, KOYEAS MIAH, AND KAMAL HUSSAIN SENTENCED IN GRAVESEND AND LONDON FOR HORRIFIC RAPE CRIME

In a disturbing case that has shocked the community, three men from the London and Gravesend areas have been sentenced to a combined total of over 30 years in prison for their involvement in the brutal rape of a teenage girl. The incident took place in March of the previous year, within the confines of a flat in Gravesend, where the 16-year-old victim was subjected to a terrifying and degrading assault.

During the trial held at Maidstone Crown Court in July, the court heard harrowing details of the assault. Kamal Hussain, aged 22, and Koyeas Miah, aged 23, were each handed 11-year prison sentences after being convicted of two counts of rape. Their sentences are to be served concurrently, reflecting the severity of their crimes. Salah Uddin, also 22, was identified as the primary perpetrator in the attack. He pleaded guilty to one count of rape and received a sentence of eight and a half years in prison.

The court was told that Uddin and Miah raped the young girl over a span of approximately 15 minutes. During this ordeal, Hussain, who did not physically assault the victim, played a disturbing role by standing with a chair positioned at the door, effectively blocking any chance of escape for the girl. The judge, Philip St John-Stevens, condemned their actions, stating, “It’s clear each of you played your part in subjecting a young girl of just 16 years of age to an appalling and degrading ordeal that has had a profound effect on her and may live with her for many years.”

He further described the scene, noting that the girl tried to push off her attackers and pleaded for them to stop. She also described how she felt someone holding her hands, preventing her from moving away. The judge emphasized the terrifying nature of the attack, especially considering her age, describing her as a vulnerable and young girl. “It must have been petrifying with you three men there,” he added.

Additional details revealed that while in prison, both Uddin and Miah suffered violent attacks. Uddin, a father of one and a resident of Tarling Street, Whitechapel, was stabbed during an assault. Miah, from Thorold Road, Ilford, sustained significant burns after being attacked with boiling water. The court also heard from Raana Sheikh, representing Hussain, who stated that although the attack on Hussain was a joint enterprise, he did not have any physical contact with the victim. Sheikh also mentioned that Hussain had contemplated suicide while incarcerated, highlighting the mental toll the ordeal has taken on him.

Overall, the sentences reflect the gravity of the crime and the profound impact it has had on the victim, as well as the community’s concern over such heinous acts occurring in the Gravesend and London areas.
