EZEKIEL OLADAPO CAUGHT WITH CHILD PORNOGRAPHY IN GLASGOW AND LONDON
In September 2012, a disturbing case emerged involving Ezekiel Oladapo, a 20-year-old student with connections to both Glasgow and London, who was sentenced to 15 months in prison after being found in possession of indecent images of minors.The incident unfolded when Oladapo, a mathematics student at Glasgow University, was discovered to have stored illicit material on his computer, which was accessible to others in his shared flat.
Oladapo's flatmate stumbled upon two video files in a communal area of the computer, which raised immediate concern.
Recognizing the disturbing nature of the content, the flatmate reported the find to the authorities.
Police swiftly intervened, and Oladapo was detained following the discovery of the vile material.
The case drew significant attention due to Oladapo's background and his application to work with children, raising questions about his intentions and the extent of his illegal activities.
Earlier in July 2012, Oladapo appeared in Glasgow Sheriff Court to face charges related to the possession and distribution of indecent images of children.
During the proceedings, it was revealed that Oladapo, originally from London but residing in Drumchapel, Glasgow, had been caught after flatmates found video files stored in a shared access folder.
Police investigations uncovered a staggering total of 4,409 indecent images and 77 videos stored across his laptop, mobile phone, and a memory stick.
The court heard that Oladapo was living in student accommodation in Maryhill, Glasgow, in a single room with shared toilet and kitchen facilities.
The accommodation was equipped with sockets allowing students to connect their devices and access shared files, which played a role in the discovery of the illicit material.
On or around December 11 or 12, 2010, a female student noticed a folder named “Ezekiel’s Frostwire” in her shared directory.
Inside, she found two videos with suggestive titles.
Although she did not open the files herself, she informed her flatmates, who later viewed the videos and reported their findings to the police.
Authorities confirmed that one of the videos contained indecent images of children.
Further investigations revealed that Oladapo had been downloading such material since he was approximately 17 years old.
He also admitted to sending and receiving images via email with three other individuals, with these activities occurring in the latter months of 2010.
Evidence collected from his devices indicated a disturbing pattern of behavior, including the possession of images classified between levels one and five, with the most extreme being level five.
Oladapo disputed that any of the material he possessed was classified as level five.
Additionally, the court noted that Oladapo had previously worked with children and had applied for a position at the Windsor Fellowship, an organization dedicated to supporting education and opportunities for ethnic minorities, which includes roles involving working with children.
The severity of the case led Sheriff Martin Jones QC to defer sentencing until September to allow for further reports and assessments.
The case underscores the serious nature of possession and distribution of child exploitation material and raises ongoing concerns about safeguarding and the vetting of individuals working with vulnerable populations.
