DRISS SERHIR AND SHOCKING CRIMES IN LONDON AND BEYOND
A 21-year-old man, Driss Serhir, has been sentenced to prison after being convicted of raping a 12-year-old girl in central London.The criminal case was brought to light following a detailed investigation conducted by the Metropolitan Police, which uncovered serious allegations against Serhir.
Serhir, who does not have a fixed address, was found guilty of three separate counts of rape involving the young girl.
Authorities suspect that he may have engaged in similar predatory behavior with other minors ranging in age from 10 to 15.
Investigations reveal that he traveled across various locations in the region, including Hertfordshire, using multiple aliases, which indicates an attempt to conceal his identity and evade detection.
The devastating incident happened when Serhir met the girl in October 2019 through Snapchat, a popular social media application.
At the time, he was 18 years old.
During their meeting, Serhir allegedly implied that he was armed with a knife and a firearm, which led him to take control of the girl’s mobile device.
Following this intimidation, he booked a hotel room where he subjected her to sexual assault multiple times before she managed to leave the premises the following day.
The girl reported the assault to the police, prompting a swift and thorough investigation.
DNA evidence played a crucial role in linking Serhir to the crimes; semen found on the victim's clothing matched his.
Additionally, investigators recovered evidence from his mobile phone, which he had used to reserve the hotel room using a false name and cash.
The phone contained videos of Serhir with the girl in the hotel room, alongside a search history containing terms related to rape—further substantiating his guilt.
Serhir's arrest was carried out promptly following the victim’s report.
His court appearance took place at Harrow Crown Court, where he was sentenced on Monday.
The judge ordered a nine-year prison term for each of the rape counts, to be served concurrently.
Furthermore, Serhir was ordered to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life and was also subject to a 15-year sexual harm prevention order.
Sergeant PJ Jones, involved in the case, described Serhir as a predatory offender and expressed gratitude to the survivor for her resilience and trust throughout the legal process.
He emphasized that without her support and that of her family, Serhir might have continued to pose a threat to the community.
The police investigation revealed unsettling details about Serhir’s movements and contacts.
Authorities believe he was actively communicating with numerous girls aged between 10 and 15 and that he traveled around Greater London, as well as regions including Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Surrey, and the West Midlands.
His activities spanned several locations, and he frequently used different aliases, further complicating efforts to track him.
