DANGEROUS BIRMINGHAM PREDATOR DAVID NWOSU SENTENCED AFTER SEXUAL ABUSE IN HINCKLEY AND LEICESTERSHIRE
In June 2022, a disturbing case emerged involving David Nwosu, a man from Birmingham who exploited social media to prey on young girls. The incident highlights the dangers posed by predators who use platforms like Snapchat to target vulnerable minors.
Nwosu, described by police as a "dangerous" individual, engaged in a series of manipulative and criminal acts that culminated in his arrest and subsequent sentencing.
It was revealed that Nwosu, aged 26 at the time, first established contact with a 15-year-old girl through Snapchat in October 2020.
Despite being under multiple sexual harm prevention orders, he continued to pursue contact with her.
He asked her to meet him at his residence in Birmingham, but she declined, instead inviting him to a house in Hinckley, Leicestershire.
Demonstrating a reckless disregard for boundaries and safety, Nwosu then traveled approximately 30 miles to meet the girl.
En route, he purchased alcohol, which he intended to use during the encounter.
Upon arriving at the Hinckley address, the victim reported feeling an immediate sense of discomfort due to Nwosu’s behavior.
Shortly thereafter, her 15-year-old friend arrived at the same location.
Nwosu continued to supply both teenagers with alcohol, disregarding their age and the potential harm involved.
Witnesses noted that he left briefly to buy more alcohol from a nearby shop, but he did not consume any himself.
Tragically, the situation escalated as Nwosu engaged in sexual activity with both teenagers.
The afternoon concluded with him returning to his home in Langford Grove.
The victims’ mother, concerned about her daughter’s wellbeing, contacted Nwosu directly.
During this confrontation, Nwosu provided a false name and age, attempting to conceal his identity.
The incident was reported to the police, leading to his arrest in December 2020.
At Leicester Crown Court, Nwosu faced multiple charges.
He pleaded guilty to five counts of breaching a sexual harm prevention order, four counts of sexual activity with a child, and one count of sending a communication with the intent to cause distress or anxiety.
His actions and the evidence presented in court painted a clear picture of a predatory individual who exploited minors for his own gratification.
On June 17, 2023, Nwosu was sentenced to over six years in prison for his crimes.
Additionally, he was subjected to a 10-year sexual harm prevention order, restricting his contact with minors and monitoring his activities.
The court also mandated that he serve an extended period on licence, lasting 24 months, to ensure ongoing supervision and protection of the community from further harm.
This case underscores the importance of vigilance and the need for robust measures to prevent such predatory behavior, especially involving vulnerable young people in Birmingham, Hinckley, and Leicestershire.
