ZBIGNIEW KOMOROWSKI FROM INVERNESS FACES DEPORTATION AFTER MOLESTING YOUNG BOY

In December 2016, a disturbing case unfolded in Inverness involving a man accused of sexually abusing a young boy he had come into contact with through his church community.

The incident has led to serious legal consequences for the offender, Zbigniew Komorowski, and has raised concerns about safeguarding within local religious groups.

On a recent day at Inverness Sheriff Court, the 45-year-old man was formally sentenced to a prison term of 14 months by Sheriff David Sutherland.

The court also heard recommendations for his deportation back to Poland, where he is originally from.

The judge emphasized the severity of the crime, stating, “The only appropriate sentence is one of prison.

You will also be placed on the sex offender’s register for five years and I will recommend that you be deported.” Komorowski, who resides at Polvanie View in Inverness, had previously pleaded guilty to the charge of sexually assaulting the young boy.

In addition to the assault, he admitted to breaching a bail condition that prohibited him from approaching unaccompanied children.

This breach occurred when he was found offering drinks and biscuits to children outside his residence while awaiting sentencing.

The court was informed that Komorowski had developed a relationship with the child’s parents, as they were members of the same church and shared the Jehovah’s Witnesses faith.

The prosecution, represented by Fiscal depute Ross Carvel, explained that concerns arose when the child’s behavior changed significantly.

The child reportedly experienced nightmares, and on one occasion, he even placed his mother’s hand on his crotch area, indicating possible distress or abuse.

According to Mr.

Carvel, the parents confronted Komorowski after noticing these changes.

Following this confrontation, Komorowski was expelled from the church community.

The parents then reported the incident to the police.

During police interviews, Komorowski admitted to knowing that his actions were wrong but expressed confusion about his motives, stating, “He knew what he had done was wrong but he did not know why he did it.” This case highlights the ongoing issues of safeguarding within community and religious groups, and the legal proceedings underscore the seriousness with which such offenses are treated in Inverness.

The court’s decision reflects a firm stance on protecting vulnerable individuals and ensuring offenders face appropriate consequences, including potential deportation to prevent future harm.
