INVERNESS MAN LIAM MACKENZIE SHAMES COMMUNITY WITH DISTURBING PUBLIC INDECENCY INCIDENT
In a disturbing incident that has shocked the Inverness community, Liam Mackenzie, a 23-year-old resident of St Valery Avenue, was caught engaging in a highly inappropriate act in a public space within the Raigmore estate.The incident took place in a glass porch of a property on Mackintosh Road, where Mackenzie was observed by multiple witnesses performing a sexual act on himself using equipment and baby oil.
According to reports, the incident occurred around 6:15 pm, and it was first noticed by a 12-year-old schoolgirl who was in the vicinity.
The young girl saw Mackenzie standing naked in the porch, applying baby oil and using equipment to perform a sexual act.
Alarmed and disgusted by what she saw, she immediately ran to her mother to report the incident.
Her mother, who also witnessed Mackenzie’s actions from her window, was understandably distressed and shouted at him to stop.
The girl’s mother’s intervention startled Mackenzie, causing him to retreat back into the house.
Another witness, a man living in a neighboring block of flats on Mackintosh Road, also saw Mackenzie’s behavior.
The incident was further corroborated by a resident from a nearby stairwell, who observed the scene from across the road.
The witnesses’ accounts prompted immediate action from the police, who arrived at the scene at approximately 7:14 pm.
The police spoke with the witnesses and then proceeded to Mackenzie’s residence, where he was found in his boxer shorts and taken into custody.
During police interviews, Mackenzie admitted to the offence, revealing that he committed the act to obtain sexual gratification.
He reportedly told officers, “It was the fear of getting caught that was the kick.” The property where the incident occurred belonged to Mackenzie’s grandmother, and he was reportedly doing some work on it while she was away.
At an earlier hearing in Inverness Sheriff Court, Mackenzie pleaded guilty to the charge of public indecency.
His solicitor, Willie Young, emphasized that Mackenzie was a first-time offender and expressed that the experience had been a significant and chastening one for him.
He also stated that Mackenzie was genuinely ashamed of his conduct.
The court, having considered the reports, decided to impose a community payback order for a period of one year.
As part of this order, Mackenzie will be required to attend a specialized course for sex offenders.
Additionally, Sheriff Margaret Neilson ordered that Mackenzie be placed on the Sex Offenders Register for one year, marking a serious step in addressing his conduct and protecting the community from future incidents.
