DUNDEE WOMAN JAILED FOR FIRE-SETTING AND HOMICIDE
Victoria Kydd, age 43, was ordered to complete 300 hours of community service without pay after setting fire to her residence, endangering her neighbors.Additionally, she will be under social work supervision for three years.
Her criminal history includes a five-year prison sentence for murdering her partner, whom she stabbed during an argument after he rejected her sexual advances.
In court, she admitted to deliberately and carelessly risking lives by igniting clothing, blankets, and paper at her former flat in Newburgh High Street on January 5th.
Her actions caused roughly £2,000 in damages, and she attempted to set the property ablaze once more while firefighters were present.
The court also heard that she threw a lit cigarette at a police officer at the time of her arrest and had previously assaulted officers during ongoing court proceedings.
She had a prior conviction for culpable homicide in 2006 for the death of her partner, John Lofthouse, following a violent argument.
Her relationship with him was described as tumultuous, with her last encounter ending in anger and violence.
Her actions have left the family of the victim deeply affected.
The court highlighted her long record of violent and reckless activity, including attacks on police and property, contributing to her current sentencing.
