DUNDEE DOMESTIC ABUSER SENTENCED FOR ASSAULT AND THEFT OF POLICE VEST
A violent domestic abuser, Tomasz Lukjanow, aged 51, who posed a serious threat to his partner's safety, was sentenced to prison after a series of violent attacks. In September 2022, Lukjanow was seen assaulting his partner in Dundee, leaving her with cuts and bruises.
During the incident, he grabbed his partner by the throat and lifted her off the ground, causing her to go limp.
Despite his minimal remorse in social worker interviews, the court heard detailed accounts of his violent behavior, including another assault shortly thereafter.
Witnesses described how Lukjanow took hold of her by the throat, lifted her off the ground, and continued to hold her while she was seated.
Public witnesses saw him shouting, then physically assaulting her face.
Photos taken by the woman's daughter showed evidence of her injuries, including reddening and blood.
Lukjanow was also found in possession of a Police Scotland-issue vest, which he later claimed had been acquired during a physical fight.
During sentencing at Dundee Sheriff Court, Sheriff Paul Brown emphasized the severity, stating, “These are serious offences.
I have listened to everything said on your behalf and considered the material placed before me.
However, in my view, there is no appropriate alternative to a custodial sentence.” Lukjanow received a 13-month prison sentence with a six-month supervised release order.
Despite the ongoing relationship, he was also subject to a non-harassment order for three years, prohibiting threatening, abusive or violent behavior towards the victim.
The court was told the victim’s daughter had seen her mother with bruises covered by make-up, and witnessed her hysterically crying, blaming Lukjanow for hitting her repeatedly.
The court was also shown images of Lukjanow wearing a stolen police vest, found in his possession without authority.
His solicitor noted that Lukjanow was under bail conditions and continued the relationship but did not accept his alcohol abuse issues.
The sheriff highlighted the seriousness of his actions and ordered that Lukjanow serve time in custody, aimed at protecting his partner from further harm.
