THOMAS MILLAR'S SHOCKING CRIMES IN DUNDEE: RAPE SPREE AND BAIL BREACHES
In a disturbing case that has sent shockwaves through Dundee, a man named Thomas Millar has been convicted of heinous sexual offenses committed in a single night within a Dundee car park. The incident involved the assault of two teenage girls, both aged 15, with Millar's actions leaving lasting trauma and injuries.
Millar, who was already on bail at the time, faced a high-profile trial at the Dundee High Court, where the jury reached a majority verdict finding him guilty of three counts of rape.
The court also heard evidence that Millar engaged in sexual activity with another teenager, further compounding the severity of his crimes.
Despite the gravity of the charges, Millar, 22 years old and formerly residing in Dundee, showed no visible emotion as the verdict was announced.
He has since been remanded into custody at Perth Prison and was ordered to be placed on the Sex Offenders Register pending sentencing.
The case was built around testimonies from the victims, who recounted their traumatic experiences.
One of the girls, only 15 at the time, described how she and her friend had been in a vehicle with Millar and another man the previous year.
They had been shopping in Dundee, purchasing alcohol before the group picked up the second girl.
The girls then drove to a Dundee car park, where the assault took place.
The first girl explained that Millar had brought his own beer and, after the others left the vehicle, he moved into the back seat with her.
She recounted her ordeal in a police interview, stating, “Tommy had his own drink, he had beer.” She further described how Millar, without her consent, moved the front seat forward, then shifted her legs apart and removed his trousers.
Despite her protests and attempts to resist, Millar forcibly engaged in sexual activity with her.
She told police, “That’s when Tommy was in front of me.
I can’t remember how he got there.
He ended up in front of me.
He moved the front seat forward.
Then he moved my legs.
Then he took his trousers off.
I was trying to tell him no.
He just took his trousers off and moved my legs apart.
Then he grabbed me.
I kept telling him no.
I couldn’t move my legs.
I kept saying no, that I don’t want to do it, but he didn’t listen.” According to her account, when her friend returned to the vehicle, Millar ceased his assault and quickly put his trousers back on.
The girl described feeling confused and frightened, hoping someone would come back to help.
Shortly after, her friend, the second victim, also disclosed that she had been sexually assaulted by Millar, shouting about having just had sex with him.
Both girls then returned to the second girl’s home, where they confided in their mother before contacting the police.
The first girl reported physical injuries, including bruising and scratches on her legs, which were consistent with her account of the assault.
The court found that Millar had raped the first girl once and the second girl twice, with the second girl being unable to consent due to her intoxication.
At the time of these assaults, Millar was on bail, facing multiple other allegations, including a separate rape of a teenage girl at Camperdown Park in March 2019.
During the trial, Millar claimed that the sexual activities were consensual, but the jury rejected this defense, convicting him of engaging in sexual intercourse and activity with the 15-year-old girl at Camperdown Park on the specified date.
Additionally, Millar admitted to engaging in sexual activity with a fourth girl, also aged 15, between 2017 and 2018, and to threatening or abusing her in 2018.
He further acknowledged threatening behavior towards another pregnant teenager in 2021.
Solicitor advocate Iain Paterson did not request bail for Millar, citing the seriousness of the charges.
Given that Millar has no prior criminal record, Judge Lady Drummond ordered that reports be prepared before sentencing, scheduled for September 12 at the High Court in Glasgow.
The judge emphasized the gravity of the crimes, stating, “These are serious sexual offences,” underscoring the need for appropriate judicial response to such disturbing conduct.
