DUNDEE MAN FACES COURT AFTER ALCOHOL-FUELED ASSAULT ON PARTNER

Stephen Petrie, aged 51, is currently awaiting sentencing after admitting to assaulting his partner by punching her on Dundee’s Cowgate during Saturday night.

According to his solicitor, John Boyle, Petrie experienced a relapse in his battle with alcohol addiction, consuming a litre of rum on the night of the incident.

The court has deferred the sentencing until May 1 to allow for social work reports to be compiled.

Petrie, who resides on Ravensby Road in Carnoustie, was involved in a violent confrontation while under the influence, highlighting issues with alcoholism and domestic violence.

The incident has garnered attention in local media, and the outcome will be determined after the reports are reviewed.
