December 2011 Child porn pervert – “my life is over” A COMPUTER programmer says his life is over after he downloaded more than 800 indecent images of children, some as young as six. Stephen Davey, aged 40, of Vincent Road, off Wyld’s Lane, Worcester, admitted four charges of making indecent images of children. The images were downloaded between March 30, 2008, and August 20 last year, and were stored on a computer tower and a USB memory stick, which were seized by police. There were 827 images in total – 303 level one images and two level three images on the computer, and 517 level one images and five level two images on the memory stick. Matt Dodson, prosecuting at Worcester Magistrates Court, said when police raided his home Davey said: “Oh yeah, you want my computer. It’s upstairs.” He was arrested and cautioned, to which he replied: “I will be on the sex offenders register. “People will hate me. My life will be over.” The girls in the images were between the ages of six and 14, Mr Dodson said. When he spoke to police, Davey said he would download the indecent images in bulk before deleting what he described as the “most distasteful”. Mr Dodson said: “He said he was not a paedophile and did not have a sexual interest in children.” David Ollivere, defending, said: “He’s a 40-year-old man of previous good character who, by his own admission, has done an appalling thing. “He pleads guilty at the earliest opportunity. “He realises the shame and embarrassment his actions have caused, not only to himself but others close to him.” Mr Ollivere said Davey had lost his partner and his job of eight years as a computer programmer. He has also had to put his house on the market. He must sign the sex offenders register.
