December 2011 Banned! Child porn pervert listened in at sex trial A CONVICTED sex offender has been banned from attending court hearings involving children, sexual or violent incidents. Mark Chambers was removed from the public gallery area at Worcester Crown Court during a recent sex case trial. He was previously made subject to a sexual offences prevention order after being convicted of being in possession of 128,920 indecent images of children. Stephen Davies applied on behalf of the Crown Prosecution Service and West Mercia Police for an addition to the SOPO to prevent Chambers’ attendance at sex case hearings. Chambers, aged 44, of Angel Place, Worcester, did not oppose the addition to the court order. But he said he did not accept all of the inferences which were made in court. Mr Davies said a trial at the court was adjourned for a short time early last month after witnesses complained to police about the behaviour of Chambers in the public gallery and he was ejected. Trial judge Patrick Thomas QC said that Chambers had “made a bit of a fuss” at the time but he did not want to deter the public from attending public hearings. He approved a new clause in the SOPO, preventing Chambers attending court without the written permission of his risk manager in the probation service or the risk manager of the police.
