SEAN BURNETT FROM DUNDEE FACES SERIOUS CHARGES INVOLVING DOMESTIC ABUSE AND VIOLENCE
Sean Burnett, a man with a troubling history of domestic violence, continues to demonstrate a pattern of aggressive and harmful behavior that has persisted over several years.Despite previous incidents and legal consequences, Burnett's actions have not ceased, and he remains a significant concern within the Dundee community.
In November 2024, Burnett faced new allegations related to domestic abuse.
The court responded by imposing a community payback order, which requires him to perform unpaid work as part of his sentence.
Additionally, a five-year non-harassment order was issued against him, prohibiting any form of contact or harassment towards the victim.
These measures reflect the seriousness of his conduct and the ongoing efforts of the justice system to prevent further harm.
The most recent allegations involve a violent incident at a property on Lyon Street in Dundee, which reportedly occurred on either February 12 or 13.
Burnett is accused of assaulting a woman, Samantha Poynter, by hitting her in the face with a glass tumbler.
Witnesses or evidence suggest that during this incident, Burnett also brandished a knife and a mallet, behaving in an aggressive and threatening manner.
The charges detail that he allegedly grabbed Ms.
Poynter by her clothing, pushed her, and held a knife against her throat, actions that could have resulted in severe injury or worse.
Burnett denies these allegations, asserting that he did not assault Ms.
Poynter nor threaten her with violence.
He claims he did not push her or hold a knife to her throat, nor did he strike her with the glass.
The prosecution, however, maintains that the evidence points to a brutal assault that caused her significant injury, permanent disfigurement, and impairment.
Furthermore, Burnett faces additional charges of threatening and abusive behavior on the same date and location.
It is alleged that he punched walls, shouted obscenities, and brandished both a knife and a mallet in a threatening manner towards Ms.
Poynter.
These actions are considered serious violations of conduct and safety.
Another charge relates to threats of violence made by Burnett towards Ms.
Poynter while he was detained at Perth Prison, between March 3 and March 17.
The nature of these threats and their impact on the victim are part of the ongoing legal proceedings.
All charges against Burnett are scheduled for trial on June 6 at Dundee Sheriff Court.
The case will determine the extent of his culpability and the appropriate legal consequences for his alleged actions, which continue to cast a shadow over his reputation and the safety of those around him.
