SCOTT ANGUS FROM DUNDEE JAILED FOR CHILD ABUSE VIDEOS IN SHOCKING CASE
In a disturbing case that has sent shockwaves through the community of Dundee, a local man named Scott Angus has been sentenced to eight months in prison after being found in possession of an extensive collection of child abuse videos. The court also mandated that Angus be placed on the sex offenders register for a decade, reflecting the severity of his crimes.
The police investigation uncovered a troubling cache of digital material, including six different devices.
Among these was a USB stick discovered outside Angus's bedroom window, which contained a staggering 386 videos and 2,709 photographs depicting child abuse.
Of these videos, 211 were classified at the most serious level of severity, highlighting the disturbing nature of the content he had collected.
During the court proceedings, it was revealed that Angus, aged 51, had been involved in this illicit activity over a period of nearly two years.
The depute fiscal, Eilidh Robertson, detailed that Angus had been downloading indecent images of children from August 2015 up until June of this year.
The charges included both the collection and possession of such material, with evidence showing that he possessed indecent images at his residence on June 6.
Angus's criminal history was also brought into focus, as it was noted that he had previous convictions for drink driving and soliciting prostitutes.
His solicitor advocate, Kris Gilmartin, addressed the court, emphasizing that the offenses spanned a lengthy period and involved a significant number of images.
Gilmartin expressed that Angus felt genuine shame and deep regret for his actions, acknowledging the harm caused by such offenses.
He further stated that Angus recognizes he has a serious problem and is eager to seek help to address it.
The defense also highlighted the personal toll the case has taken on Angus, noting that he has already lost his employment and is at risk of losing his marriage.
However, the sheriff presiding over the case, Alastair Carmichael, was unequivocal in his judgment.
He pointed out that the offenses had been ongoing for nearly two years, constituting a continuous course of conduct.
Given the gravity and duration of the crimes, Sheriff Carmichael concluded that only a custodial sentence would suffice, leading to Angus’s eight-month imprisonment and the registration requirement.
