DUNDEE MAN JAILED FOR DOMESTIC ABUSE AND FORCING CIGARETTE INTO WOMAN’S MOUTH
A violent individual named Ross Ramsay has been sentenced after subjecting his partner to five days of brutal abuse.Ramsay knocked the woman unconscious and shouted at her to get up while she was on the ground.
He also throttled her and forced a cigarette into her mouth.
During the attack at her home, Ramsay hurled insults and verbally abused her, with a young child even screaming at him to stop.
Sheriff Richard McFarlane described Ramsay's conduct as not a one-off incident but a repeated course of brutality resulting in severe injury and permanent disfigurement.
Ramsay was previously jailed in 2012 for his involvement in a fatal attack in Dundee.
In that case, he was sentenced to 45 months at the High Court in Edinburgh for acts including grabbing a woman by the wrist and hair, shoving a cigarette into her mouth, and physical assault leading to injuries such as a broken nose, front teeth, and a fractured finger.
In the recent case, Ramsay admitted to engaging in violent behavior against his partner between January 28 and February 1, 2020, which included punching her until she lost consciousness.
The court sentenced him to 27 months imprisonment.
The judge emphasized the gravity of the offense and Ramsay's previous convictions, with the serious injuries possibly having been more severe had circumstances been different.
Ramsay is currently incarcerated at HMP Perth.
