RONALD SINCLAIR ATTACKS EX-PARTNER IN DUNDEE DESPITE COURT ORDER
A man from Dundee, Ronald Sinclair, has pleaded guilty to a violent assault against his former partner, an incident that took place despite a court order designed to protect her.Sinclair was transported from HMP Perth to Dundee Sheriff Court to face charges related to an attack that occurred on January 27 at an address on Fintry Crescent.
The court heard that Sinclair repeatedly struck his ex-partner over the head using a jerry can, a brutal act that resulted in severe injuries and permanent disfigurement to the woman.
The incident was particularly alarming because, just a few months prior, in April 2023, the court had already issued a non-harassment order against Sinclair, explicitly forbidding any form of contact with the woman.
Despite this legal restriction, Sinclair committed the assault while he was still on bail, highlighting a blatant disregard for the court's directives.
During the hearing, Sinclair, aged 37, admitted to breaching the court order by carrying out the attack.
The court proceedings revealed the seriousness of the injuries inflicted and the ongoing threat posed by Sinclair's actions.
Sheriff Lindsay Foulis decided to postpone sentencing until September 25, allowing social workers to conduct a thorough investigation into the possibility of imposing post-release supervision.
