DUNDEE ALCOHOLIC JAILED FOR 24 BREACHES OF ASBO AND THREATENING VIOLENCE
An individual named Raymond Norrie, aged 53, from the Lily Walker Centre in Ann Street, Dundee, has been detained following a series of antisocial behaviour violations.Norrie breached his antisocial behaviour order (Asbo) 24 times since its imposition in July 2017.
The court heard that on June 2, while intoxicated, Norrie made a range of abusive remarks at his mother’s residence in Fintry Mains.
He entered her house unlawfully, shouted threats of violence including 'I'll ****ing kill you', and behaved threateningly in her presence, including swearing, acting aggressively, and making threats to kill.
Despite being released early from HMP Perth just five days prior, Norrie's behaviour spiralled out of control, driven by his heavy alcohol consumption.
His defence solicitor described his intoxication as 'eye-watering', comparing him to Father Jack Hackett from the TV show Father Ted, a character known for heavy drinking and coarse language.
Concerned neighbours reported hearing Norrie shouting violent threats around 1.20 pm, prompting police to trace him in the kitchen and arrest him.
The court noted that Norrie's repeated breaches of his Asbo and his worsening alcoholism led to a custodial sentence.
Sheriff Derek Reekie ordered that Norrie serve 145 days of an unexpired sentence, with an additional six months in prison.
The case highlights ongoing issues with alcohol abuse and antisocial behaviour, and Norrie’s actions have been formally condemned in court.
