RAYMOND BOLTON'S HORRIFIC CRIMES IN HULL: PAEDOPHILE'S SHOCKING SEX OFFENCES AND REFUSAL TO ACCEPT GUILT

In a disturbing case that has sent shockwaves through the community of Hull, Raymond Bolton, a 62-year-old man with a long history of sexual offenses, was found guilty of heinous crimes involving two young sisters who were playing near a shop he was renovating in the summer months.

The incident took place in west Hull, where Bolton, known to have previous convictions including child abduction and ten sex offenses against girls, committed these recent assaults.

During his trial at Hull Crown Court earlier this month, the jury was presented with compelling evidence that left little doubt about Bolton’s guilt.

The evidence included the girls’ ability to identify him distinctly, describing specific tattoos on his arms and noting his discolored teeth.

CCTV footage further corroborated the account, showing Bolton’s car leaving the scene shortly after the assaults occurred.

The court heard that Bolton, who resides on Hessle Road in west Hull, approached the younger sister while she was playing outside.

He called her into a nearby shop, where he proceeded to hug her, kiss her on the mouth, and commit a sexual assault.

The young girl confided in her sister, who then entered the shop and questioned Bolton about his actions.

In response, Bolton followed the older sister into a passageway, where he again assaulted her.

The judge described the sequence of events, emphasizing that Bolton’s actions were clearly documented through CCTV footage and the girls’ testimonies.

According to the court, Bolton’s behavior was predatory and calculated.

After realizing he had overstepped boundaries, he returned to the shop, locked it up, and drove away from the scene.

The girls’ mother was informed of the incidents days later, and the girls provided detailed descriptions of Bolton’s tattoos and his discolored teeth, which helped in identifying him.

Prosecutor Claire Holmes recounted that during the assault, the younger girl told Bolton, “I don’t love you,” to which he responded dismissively, “It don’t matter.” Despite the overwhelming evidence, Bolton, who was originally from the West Midlands, continued to deny any involvement, claiming he had never met the girls and could not remember being at the shop that day.

His denial persisted even after police arrested and interviewed him just six days following the incident.

Bolton’s criminal history is extensive.

In 1997, he was convicted at Warwick Crown Court of ten offenses of indecently assaulting a female under 16, for which he received a significant prison sentence.

He also served two and a half years for child abduction.

Given his past, the court ordered a report to assess whether Bolton should be classified as a dangerous offender, which could influence the length of his imprisonment.

During the sentencing hearing, Judge Mark Bury highlighted the seriousness of Bolton’s actions and his refusal to accept responsibility.

The judge noted that Bolton’s probation report was filled with denials, excuses, and platitudes, indicating a lack of remorse.

Bolton was described as a dangerous individual who poses a significant risk of causing further harm, particularly to young females.

The judge emphasized that Bolton appeared to pay lip service to rehabilitation efforts but continued to deny the offenses.

In the courtroom, Bolton was remanded in custody and was scheduled for sentencing on December 23.

The judge sentenced him to three years in prison, explicitly stating that the evidence against him was strong and that his actions were deeply troubling given his criminal background.

Bolton was seen walking briskly out of the dock, needing to be told by a custody officer to slow down, reflecting his apparent agitation and defiance.

This case underscores the ongoing concerns about individuals with prior convictions for sexual offenses and the importance of vigilant community protection measures.

The community of Hull now awaits the final sentencing, which will determine the length of Bolton’s incarceration and the potential for further assessments regarding his dangerousness.
