Connor Temple

Hull Child Abuser

Police found "disgusting and outrageous" images of vulnerable children aged as young as three or four after searching a man's mobile phones – and the victims were clearly in "pain and distress" during the sickening abuse. Online pervert Connor Temple was specifically searching for such images on the internet and he was helping to fuel a worldwide trade that "promotes and assists" the abuse of children, Hull Crown Court heard. Temple, 27, of Whitehope Close, Bransholme, Hull, admitted three offences of making indecent images of children and another of possessing extreme pornography on August 10, 2022. Judge Alexander Menary said that the offences came to light when police went to Temple's home after receiving information about online activity and carried out a search. Two mobile phones were found and it was discovered that they had indecent images of children on them. There were 49 images in the most serious Category A as well as 46 videos. There were also 35 images and four videos in Category B. Also found were 36 images in Category C. "These files depicted the abuse of very young children," said Judge Menary. "There were search terms consistent with someone seeking out this material on the internet." The children shown in the images were aged as young as three and four. There was also an extreme image of bestiality, involving a woman and a dog. Judge Menary said that it often took some time for it to "sink in" for offenders such as this that, at the end of the indecent images, there was a child somewhere in the world who had been sexually abused in order to create the images for people such as Temple. Behaviour by people like him "promotes and assists" the sexual abuse that was taking place. "The trade in this disgusting and outrageous material is something that has to be discouraged," said Judge Menary. Temple had been using specific search terms to find the indecent images of children. "They weren't on your phone by some accident," said Judge Menary. Temple originally denied that he was sharing those images but he later accepted that this was not true and he pleaded guilty. The offences were made worse by the fact that children aged as young as three and four were involved. The victims were shown in "pain and distress" during the videos. There had been no further offences since Temple was arrested. "You have stayed out of trouble since this shot across your bows," said Judge Menary. Oliver Shipley, mitigating, said that Temple had no previous convictions and he was working. "He has got a lot of time to prove to the court that he can turn this around," said Mr Shipley. Temple was given a one-year suspended prison sentence, 80 hours' unpaid work and 30 days' rehabilitation. He was given a 10-year sexual harm prevention order and he must register as a sex offender for 10 years. He was ordered to pay £400 costs. "Your risk can be managed in the community," said Judge Menary. "The best way to protect the public from the commission of further offences by you is to suspend the inevitable custodial sentence." "If you come back, and you and I meet again, I will send you to prison. The 12 months would be activated and any other sentence would be consecutive. You must stay out of trouble for the next 12 months."
