Paul Woodmansey

Slough Gainsborough Sexual Abuser

March 2010 Trucker jailed for sex with 14-year-old A GAINSBOROUGH lorry driver is behind bars this week after he admitted having sex with a 14-year-old girl in his cab when he was parked up on an industrial estate. Paul Woodmansey, 50, was jailed for three and a half years, after Lincoln Crown Court heard how he formed a short relationship with the girl after she invited him to have sex with her during a journey in his lorry. The court was told Woodmansey parked on an industrial estate and had sex with the girl after asking her if she wanted to go for a ride to Immingham. Jon Straw, prosecuting, said: “Despite their difference in years Woodmansey was not discouraged when she made the suggestion “They parked up on an industrial estate close by and had sex in the sleeping section of the cab.” The couple later had sex on several occasions at Woodmansey’s home in Gainsborough, with the girl consuming both alcohol and cannabis. Mr Straw told the court Woodmansey should have had the maturity and good sense to say “No.” “Instead he pursued a sexual relationship over some months, within which he provided her with alcohol and cannabis, not to seduce her but in the normal course of their relationship,” Mr Straw added. Woodmansey was questioned by police after the girl told school friends about their relationship. During interviews, Woodmansey admitted he was aware of the girl’s age. The court heard Woodmansey was granted bail but later asked the girl if she would not mention an offer of 50 he made to her for oral sex. Michael Cranmer-Brown, mitigating, told the court Woodmansey was paying a heavy price for his conduct with the girl. “This whole episode was a a one-off in its own perculiar circumstances, and is unlikely to happen again,” Mr Cranmer-Brown added: “He is an older man, if a 14-year-old girl throws themselves at you the law is you should resist that.” Woodmansey, formerly of Gainsborough but now of Tamar Way, Slough, admitted six charges of sexual activity with a child between 2nd May and 10th July, 2009, and attempting to pervert the course of justice.  Passing sentence Judge Michael Heath told Woodmansey there was a considerable disparity in age. “She offered herself to you and you readily accepted her offer,” he said. “It was very wrong, you should not have done what you did. The law is there to protect young girls from themselves.” Woodmansey was also ordered to register as a sex offender and disqualified from working with children for life.
