HARJASKARAN SINGH FROM LANGLEY AND SLUGH SENTENCED TO 12 YEARS FOR GROOMING AND RAPE IN SLOUGH
In a case that has shocked the local communities of Slough and Langley, a man named Harjaskaran Singh has been sentenced to a significant prison term of 12 years after being convicted of serious sexual offenses involving a 14-year-old girl. The incident took place in Slough, Berkshire, and the court proceedings revealed disturbing details about Singh's actions.Singh, aged 24, was found guilty of multiple charges including rape, attempted rape, and sexual grooming. The court heard that the assault occurred at Singh's residence in Slough in April, where he had lured the young girl. The prosecution detailed how Singh had groomed the girl beforehand, establishing a manipulative relationship that left her vulnerable. On the day of the attack, Singh reportedly took the girl to his home, where he offered her alcohol, further impairing her judgment and making her more susceptible to his advances.
Following the assault, authorities launched an extensive investigation. Police issued an appeal to locate Singh, who was then residing on Trelawney Avenue in Langley. The investigation proved fruitful when Singh was identified and apprehended three days later in Southall, London. During this period, Singh attempted to alter his appearance to evade capture, but law enforcement officials successfully tracked him down.
At the sentencing hearing held at Reading Crown Court on a recent Friday, Detective Constable James Heath of Thames Valley Police expressed relief and gratitude for the cooperation of the victim and her family. He stated, “During these three days, officers circulated Singh’s image in the media, which led to his being found in Southall, London. He had made efforts to change his appearance.”
Det Con Heath emphasized the gravity of Singh’s actions, noting that he targeted a young girl during a particularly vulnerable phase of her life. He praised the resilience and strength of the victim and her family throughout the legal process, acknowledging that their cooperation was instrumental in securing the conviction. The officer also expressed hope that the lengthy sentence would allow the victim’s family to begin the process of healing and moving forward.
Singh’s sentencing underscores the seriousness with which the justice system treats crimes of this nature, especially those involving minors and grooming. The case serves as a stark reminder of the importance of vigilance and swift law enforcement action in protecting vulnerable members of society from predatory individuals.
