GERARD MORAN FROM SLOUGH SENTENCED FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES IN AYLESBURY AND AMERSHAM COURTS
In a serious case that has shocked the community of Slough, Gerard Moran, a 50-year-old resident of Alexander Road, was handed a substantial prison sentence after being convicted of multiple child sex offences. The proceedings took place across two Crown Courts, with Moran facing charges that spanned several years and involved disturbing acts against a young female victim. On Friday, at Aylesbury Crown Court, Moran was sentenced to a total of 26 months behind bars. The court heard that Moran had previously pleaded guilty to four counts of making indecent images of children during a hearing on January 2, 2015. These images, which were found on devices in his possession, depicted minors in explicit and inappropriate situations, highlighting the severity of his misconduct.
Further, on April 7, 2016, Moran admitted guilt to a separate charge of taking an indecent photograph of a child, again at Aylesbury Crown Court. This act added to the disturbing pattern of his criminal behavior involving exploitation and abuse of minors.
The most serious conviction came after a trial at Amersham Crown Court, which concluded on May 6. Moran was found guilty, by a unanimous verdict, of causing child prostitution. This charge indicated that he had coerced or forced a young girl into engaging in prostitution, a crime that underscores the gravity of his actions.
On the day of his sentencing, Moran also pleaded guilty to possessing a Class A drug, adding another layer to his criminal record. The court imposed an eight-month sentence for each of the counts related to indecent images, to run concurrently. The charge of causing child prostitution resulted in an 18-month sentence, which was ordered to run consecutively to the other sentences, effectively increasing his time behind bars. Additionally, he received a 12-month sentence for taking an indecent photograph, to run concurrently with the other terms.
Altogether, Moran was sentenced to a total of two years and two months in prison. The offences, which occurred between 2009 and 2013, were committed at various locations and involved a single young female victim. Evidence presented in court revealed that Moran had not only forced the girl into prostitution but also taken an indecent image of her. Authorities also found further indecent images stored on devices in his possession, confirming the extent of his criminal activities and the exploitation involved.
This case highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat child exploitation and protect vulnerable minors from predators like Gerard Moran, whose actions have now been formally condemned and punished by the justice system.
