MOHAMMED YOUNAS OF SLOUGH SENTENCED TO LIFE FOR CHILD RAPE IN 2014
In March 2014, a man from Slough who admitted to raping a boy under 13 years old was sentenced to life imprisonment.Mohammed Qabri Anis Younas, aged 41 and residing on Granville Avenue, Slough, was ordered to serve a minimum of six years at Reading Crown Court after pleading guilty on January 3rd to two charges of rape. The offences involved a single victim and took place between January and November 2013.
Detective Inspector Andy Howard from the Child Abuse Investigation Unit commented: “Mohammed Younas committed atrocious offences on a young boy. He was in a position of significant trust, but breached that trust in the most appalling way imaginable, and he is quite rightly now facing a substantial prison sentence.”
He added, “The boy and his family are understandably struggling to come to terms with what has happened, and appropriate support has been provided to help them cope with this heartbreaking situation.”
DI Howard also expressed gratitude toward the victim and his family for their courage and dignity since the case came to light. “Thanks to the overwhelming evidence we collected, we were able to secure a conviction within two months of Younas’s arrest, ensuring he no longer poses a risk to other children,” he stated.
Further investigation revealed that Younas had maintained strong ties to the Slough area for at least the past five years, during which time he was employed locally and possibly in nearby areas on a private basis.
The police are eager to speak with any families who have employed Younas or had extended contact with him. “We want to reassure children, parents, and families that they will be treated with the utmost sensitivity by trained officers from the Child Abuse Investigation Unit,” DI Howard said.
He concluded with a reminder to parents and guardians about the importance of safeguarding children by ensuring that anyone they hire to teach, supervise, coach, or care for their children has undergone proper background checks and holds the necessary safeguarding clearances.
