PAUL SIMMS FROM DUNDEE CAUGHT WITH CHILD RAPE VIDEOS AND IMAGES IN SHOCKING CASE
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Dundee, a local man named Paul Simms now faces potential imprisonment after authorities uncovered a disturbing collection of child exploitation material stored on his personal devices. On September 28 of the previous year, law enforcement officers executed a search warrant at Simms's residence in Dundee.
The police action was prompted by suspicions related to illegal content, leading to a thorough investigation of his electronic devices.
During the raid, officers discovered that Simms had taken deliberate steps to erase evidence from his laptop by wiping the system and reinstalling the operating system just a day before the police arrived.
Despite these efforts to conceal his activities, specialist forensic cyber crime investigators employed advanced recovery techniques to retrieve data from the device.
Their efforts proved successful, revealing a total of 149 indecent images and 10 videos depicting child abuse, with the combined footage lasting nearly four hours.
The severity of the content was underscored by the fact that some images showed children as young as three years old being subjected to sexual assault by adults.
During the court proceedings at Dundee Sheriff Court, the presiding sheriff issued a stern warning to Simms, stating, “The number and category of images means a custodial sentence will be my starting point.” The case was further detailed by prosecutor Eilidh Robertson, who explained that although Simms had reinstalled his laptop’s operating system the day before the police raid, forensic analysts were able to recover the deleted files using specialized software.
This evidence confirmed the presence of illegal material on his device.
Paul Simms, aged 35 and residing on Scott Street in Dundee, pleaded guilty to charges of possessing or creating indecent images of children, with the offenses committed between May 12 and July 12 of the previous year at his home address.
The court heard that the images and videos were part of a deliberate act, and the case was adjourned for sentencing to allow for social work background reports to be prepared.
Meanwhile, Simms was released on bail and is currently registered as a sex offender, pending the final sentencing decision scheduled for next month.
