DUNDEE CAFE OWNER PLEADS GUILTY TO COERCING MEN INTO SEX ACTS IN BASEMENT
A disturbing incident at Auntie Betty’s Cafe on Seagate in Dundee involved the owner, Paul Barty, who coerced two men into engaging in a sexual activity.
According to court reports, Barty, 47 years old and residing in Errol, arranged a disturbing game of spin the bottle using a salt shaker in the basement of the cafe on January 17.
The cafe was open to the public at the time.
Barty summoned the men into his basement where he was lying on a bed, then asked them to participate in an unsettling game.
He instructed one of the men to feel the other’s genitals, despite one refusing, the pressure from Barty led both to comply.
The victims reported feeling shocked and later contacted the police.
Barty pled guilty on the day he was due to face trial for causing the men to engage in sexual activity.
His defense attorney stated that Barty had given up the business and had no contact with the victims, expressing regret about the incident and stating he did not want to repeat such behavior.
Barty was sentenced to be placed on the sex offenders register, and the court deferred sentence until next month for additional reports.
The cafe has now been boarded up with a notice indicating it has closed due to “unforeseen circumstances.”
