DUNDEE DELIVERY DRIVER JAILED FOR SEXUALLY ASSAULTING TEEN GIRLS
A kebab shop delivery driver named Muhammed Awais from Dundee was sentenced after sexually assaulting three 16-year-old girls at a pyjama party in Angus.
The court heard that Awais approached the girls, asked for a hug, and then proceeded to grope them, leaving them in tears.
He previously admitted to three charges of sexual assault on December 28 of the previous year.
The incident occurred in the early hours after the girls attended a party nearby and ordered food from Corfu Kebabs via the Just Eat app.
When delivering the food, Awais asked for more money, claimed he was having difficulty finding the house, and then started acting oddly, including attempting to touch the girls' buttocks over their pyjamas while they tried to escape.
One of the girls recorded him, and he continued to make advances, trying to pull a girl towards him and repeatedly asking for more hugs.
The girls managed to get inside and alert their mother, who contacted the police.
Awais was traced the next night and subsequently pleaded guilty to the sexual assault charges.
The court sentenced him to 225 hours of unpaid work and placed him on the sex offenders register for five years, with Sheriff Mungo Bovey stating, 'He’s going to go on the sex offenders register which is quite a severe punishment in itself.' Awais’s solicitor expressed willingness to undertake community payback, noting he lacked legal aid.
The case highlighted disturbing conduct during the incident, with detailed descriptions of his behavior towards the teenagers and subsequent sentencing outcome.
