DOCTOR ON TRIAL FOR SEXUALLY ASSAULTING PATIENTS IN DUNDEE
A medical professional identified as Dr Mohammed Gado, aged 45, is currently on trial at Dundee Sheriff Court, facing charges of sexual assault and assault. The allegations stem from two female patients at King's Cross Hospital, where Gado worked in the out-of-hours service.
The first woman accused him of groping and touching her indecently during a medical examination, asserting that he massaged her groin area and then touched her in an impure manner, resulting in her feeling shocked and alarmed.
She also claimed that he injected her with pain relief medication without proper documentation and that he appeared to be aroused, which caused her to fear he intended to have sex with her.
The second woman testified that Gado cupped and rubbed her breasts during an examination for chest pain, and then put his hand inside her underwear to check for lymph nodes, which she deemed inappropriate.
She described the experience as distressing, feeling that the examination was not right, and that she was injected with a substance that made her drowsy.
The trial includes detailed testimonies, with the defendant denying all charges and claiming that he was not the doctor involved.
The outcome of the case remains pending as the trial continues.
UPDATE 15/08/2025 Dr Mohammed Gado was alone when he indecently touched two women at King’s Cross Hospital.
Both women attended the out-of-hours service distressed and in pain over the same bank holiday weekend between April 29 and May 1 2023.
One of his victims believed the Egyptian national was going to have sex with her after she felt him pressed up against her.
Gado denied ever treating that woman and said the other patient had lied during his trial at Dundee Sheriff Court.
However, the 45-year-old is facing a jail term after being found guilty by a jury.
Sheriff Alastair Carmichael placed Gado on the sex offenders register after deferring sentence until next month.
Gado, a father-of-five, came to the UK in 2018 and moved to Scotland two years later to train at Monifieth Health Centre to become a GP.
The former Dubai-based hospital registrar said he shelved his ambitions of becoming a consultant in order to obtain cash required for he and his family to remain in Britain.
His crimes came to light after one of the women shared her experience to her own GP who reported his “grave concerns” to NHS Tayside.
One of the patients drove herself to King’s Cross in “excruciating” lower body pain, initially believing it had been a tennis-related injury.
She was treated by a doctor called “Mo” and dispensed with the need for a chaperone for an internal examination, having undergone similar treatment on numerous occasions.
However, she was left in a “state of shock” after Gado “massaged” and indecently touched the lower part of her body as well as touching her breast.
The patient told the court she could feel Gado’s erection after he turned her around and rubbed her buttocks.
Two days later, Gado cupped and handled her breasts of a woman who attended out-of-hours.
Jurors were told how Gado did not offer her a chaperone and she rejected his advance for an internal examination.
He was convicted of placing his hands inside her jogging bottoms, touching her groin area and rubbing her buttocks.
“He puts his hand down into my jogging bottom and asks to feel my groin to see if there’s any lump in my groin area,” the woman said.
“I said I don’t think that’s acceptable because the pain was in my back and nowhere near my trousers.” Gado’s name was signed off on the medical records and various elements of the women’s treatment was not featured.
He admitted working both nights but denied ever treating the first woman and insisted he acted appropriately in caring for the other patient.
In his own evidence, Gado claimed the second woman may have been motivated by money to make a false allegation against him.
The jury returned majority guilty verdicts on the two sexual assault charges and returned not proven verdicts on allegations he assaulted the women by injecting them.
A charge of causing fear and alarm via WhatsApp messages was previously thrown out.
Defence counsel Sarah Livingstone asked for Gado’s bail to be continued and surrendered his passport.
She said: “He will be under no illusions as to the likely outcome of this case.” Gado, of Broughty Ferry, will return for sentencing in September and was ordered not to leave the UK.
He was placed on the sex offenders register on an interim basis.
