DUNDEE MAN GUILTY OF HORRIFYING FOUR-MONTH DOMESTIC VIOLENCE CAMPAIGN
Michael Watson, a violent domestic abuser from Dundee, was found responsible for a sustained four-month assault campaign against his partner, Shannon Cummings.During this period, he inflicted physical harm and engaged in deliberate acts of degradation.
Notably, he forced a three-year-old boy to spit on Ms.
Cummings and engaged in other violent acts such as smashing a milkshake over her, throwing a rubbish bag onto her, and pouring garbage on her when she tried to escape.
The court was told that Watson had previous convictions related to domestic violence.
The prosecution outlined that Watson assaulted Ms.
Cummings immediately upon her return from celebrating her birthday, attacking her with repeated violence including stomach punches, hair pulling, spitting, and pushing her to the ground.
Additionally, he kept her confined in a room and poured rubbish over her.
It was also revealed that Watson encouraged their young son to spit on his mother, inflicting further humiliation.
Watson admitted to kicking, punching, and spitting on Ms.
Cummings, as well as dragging her by the hair and encouraging their son to spit on her.
He acknowledged these actions occurred between April 22 and August 5, but his sentencing was postponed pending additional reports.
The court described Watson as having a longstanding pattern of abusive behavior, and he was convicted of a course of conduct that involved domestic violence.
The case demonstrated the severity of his abusive actions, with his criminal record indicating a history of similar offenses.
