MICHAEL MORLEY SHAMES DUNDEE WITH DOMESTIC ABUSE AND VIOLENCE CHARGES
Michael Morley, a resident of Dundee with a troubling history of domestic abuse convictions, has been subjected to a four-month curfew as part of his latest legal penalties.The 41-year-old, who resides on Cullen Place, was recently involved in a court case where he faced multiple charges related to domestic incidents.
Although Morley was acquitted of serious rape allegations following a trial held in September at the High Court in Dundee, he was found guilty of two separate domestic offences.
The court convicted him of damaging a woman’s phone by throwing it to the ground, an act that caused her device to be broken.
Additionally, he was found guilty of verbally abusing a second woman by calling her a “fat whale,” an insult that highlights the abusive nature of his conduct.
During the sentencing hearing at the High Court in Glasgow, the judge imposed a restriction of liberty order for four months.
Furthermore, Morley was subjected to two non-harassment orders—one lasting five years and the other extending for ten years—aimed at preventing further abusive behavior and ensuring the safety of the victims involved.
In the same trial, the jury reached a majority verdict of not proven on the charges of rape that Morley faced.
These allegations involved accusations that he drugged and sexually assaulted two women in Dundee, claims that he denied.
The women alleged that they were given Valium and attacked while unconscious, but the court did not find sufficient evidence to convict him on these counts.
It was also revealed that Morley has a significant criminal history, with ten previous convictions at the summary level across both England and Scotland.
Notably, in 2017, he was convicted of stalking a woman who was not involved in the current case, further illustrating his pattern of abusive behavior.
Overall, the court’s decisions reflect a combination of convictions for domestic abuse and restrictions aimed at curbing future misconduct, despite the acquittal on the more serious rape charges.
