MICHAEL MORLEY SHOCKS DUNDEE HIGH COURT WITH ALLEGED SEXUAL ASSAULTS AND DRUGGING INCIDENTS
Jurors at Dundee High Court are tasked with determining the guilt or innocence of Michael Morley, a man from Dundee accused of heinous crimes involving drugging and sexually assaulting two women. The case has garnered significant attention as the court hears detailed allegations spanning over a year and a half, with the jury of ten women and five men listening to evidence over three days.
Prosecutors allege that Morley engaged in a pattern of predatory behavior, which included administering Valium or similar sedatives to his victims without their knowledge.
The first woman, whose identity is protected for legal reasons, claims that Morley placed crumbs of Valium in his mouth and then forcibly kissed her, transferring the drug into her mouth.
This incident allegedly occurred at Morley's former residence on Greendykes Road in Dundee.
Following this, Morley is accused of raping her multiple times between January 2019 and July 2020, during which he purportedly caused her to take Valium, rendering her unable to give consent.
During the trial, advocate depute Margaret Barron described how the woman woke up naked beside Morley on several occasions, with no memory of how she ended up in that state.
Barron stated that Morley told her they had engaged in sexual activity and that she had taken Valium, although the woman maintained she did not knowingly ingest the drug.
The prosecution further alleges that Morley sexually assaulted her on various occasions by touching her breasts and private parts without her consent.
Additionally, Morley is accused of acting abusively outside a flat on Cardean Street, where he allegedly grabbed her and smashed her phone.
The second woman involved in the case is also from Dundee and was targeted by Morley in 2020.
The allegations state that Morley raped her on three separate occasions.
The first incident is believed to have started as consensual sex in April or May, but when the woman asked him to stop, Morley continued, forcing her to kick him off.
In another incident in May, Morley is accused of attempting to have sex with her while she was asleep, which she woke up to find happening.
A third charge relates to a rape in May, where Morley allegedly seized her by the head, kissed her, and forced crumbs of Valium into her mouth.
The woman reportedly blacked out during this assault, after which Morley is accused of raping her again.
Further charges include a six-month campaign of abuse, during which Morley is said to have thrown her onto a mattress, performed a wrestling move called “the triangle” that restricted her breathing, and locked her in his flat.
Morley, who resides on Cullen Place in Dundee, denied some of these allegations during his testimony.
He claimed that the only time the woman was locked in his flat was when she misplaced the only key.
When cross-examined by the prosecution, Morley stated that he did not agree with his police interview, in which he was quoted as saying, “I was like wow, you do bruise easily,” suggesting he had nipped the woman until she was marked.
Morley insisted that he only “squidged” her knee and denied all other accusations.
The trial continues as the court considers the evidence presented against Morley, who faces serious charges that could lead to significant legal consequences if found guilty.
