In June 2019, a significant case concluded at Hull Crown Court involving the sentencing of Mark Scott, a man with a disturbing history of sexual offenses.Scott, aged 34 and formerly residing on Daville Close in Hull, was convicted of a series of heinous crimes spanning over a decade.
The court found him guilty of nine counts of rape and one count of attempted rape, all committed against six different women over a period that dates back to 2005.
These offenses, which persisted over 13 years, revealed a pattern of predatory behavior that shocked the local community and drew widespread condemnation.
The severity of the crimes and the length of time over which they occurred underscored the danger Scott posed to the women he targeted.
Following the verdict, Judge Recorder Ben Nolan QC delivered the sentence, emphasizing the gravity of Scott’s actions.
He stated that Mark Scott exhibited an “ingrained sense of entitlement to sex on his terms,” which contributed to his repeated offenses.
The judge also described Scott as having a “sadistic streak” and characterized him as a “dangerous man,” highlighting the violence and brutality involved in the crimes.
As part of his punishment, Scott was sentenced to a total of 28 years in prison.
This includes a custodial term of 20 years, complemented by an extended license period of 8 years, during which he will be subject to strict supervision and conditions upon release.
The court’s decision reflects the seriousness with which the justice system views such offenses and aims to protect the community from further harm.
