LUCIAN MCIVOR FROM DUNDEE CITY JAILED FOR STALKING AND HARASSMENT IN FIFE
A man named Lucian McIvor, with strong ties to Dundee City, has been sentenced to prison after a prolonged period of disturbing and obsessive behavior directed towards a woman in Fife. The sequence of events reveals a troubling pattern of harassment that persisted over several months, culminating in a court hearing at Dundee Sheriff Court where McIvor was ultimately remanded into custody. It all began after a four-year gap following their initial two-week dating period. McIvor, who had no contact with the woman during this time, suddenly reinitiated communication by sending her a seemingly innocent Happy New Year message on January 1 of this year. However, what appeared to be a benign gesture quickly escalated into a series of unsettling actions. The woman initially dismissed the message, but McIvor’s subsequent behavior grew increasingly bizarre and invasive.
On April 9, McIvor sent her a follow-up message that she described as “self-pitying,” which she also chose to ignore. Despite her lack of response, McIvor persisted in trying to contact her through various means. His efforts culminated in him visiting her home uninvited on May 10, an act that prompted her to contact the police. During the incident, McIvor attempted to gain entry into her residence, asking to come inside before trying to let himself in. The woman, who had been in a relationship with her boyfriend for two years, firmly refused, and her partner intervened, asking McIvor to leave. The police were subsequently called to handle the situation.
McIvor’s obsession did not end there. He continued to harass the woman, including knocking on her door again and engaging in other intrusive behaviors. One particularly alarming incident occurred when he deliberately stepped in front of her car as she was leaving for work. Additionally, he posted a video on his YouTube channel showing a mural painted by the woman, further demonstrating his fixation. Ring doorbell footage from 1:30 a.m. on June 2 captured McIvor taking photographs of her car and then walking away. His online activity included leaving cryptic Google reviews about her business, where he referred to himself as “Cupid” and described the woman as “beautiful.” The reviews featured five images, including photos he had taken of her during a walk in 2020, a still from a Dire Straits song playing on a streaming app, and a picture of her car. It was also discovered that he had set her photo as the lock screen on his mobile phone.
Further evidence revealed that McIvor left a voicemail at her business, again using the alias “Cupid,” and was found sitting beneath a window of her home. During this period, his behavior extended into a dispute with an ex-partner, during which he issued threats to kill her in messages exchanged with another individual. These actions paint a picture of a man whose behavior was spiraling out of control.
McIvor, who resides at Ogilvy Place in Tayport, pleaded guilty to the charges relating to his conduct between January 1 and June 4 of this year. Prior to sentencing, he underwent psychiatric assessment, which concluded that he did not suffer from any mental disorder. However, a social work report described his behavior as “spiraling out of control,” and his solicitor, David Sinclair, acknowledged the report’s negative tone.
At the sentencing hearing, Sheriff Alastair Carmichael emphasized the seriousness of McIvor’s actions, describing them as “serious crimes of domestically abusive behaviour.” The court rejected the possibility of rehabilitation through programs such as the Caledonian Programme, citing McIvor’s refusal to consent to unpaid work or a restriction of liberty order. The sheriff also noted that McIvor had breached community-based sentences multiple times, warranting a custodial sentence to serve as appropriate punishment and societal disapproval.
As part of the court’s ruling, McIvor was sentenced to seven months in prison. Additionally, he was issued two-year non-harassment orders preventing him from contacting either of the women involved, ensuring their protection from further distress or intimidation.
