LOGAN SUMMERS AND HIS SHOCKING CRIMES IN DUNDEE
Sheriff Paul Brown has publicly condemned Logan Summers, a 20-year-old man from Dundee, for posing an extreme threat to the safety of the public.Due to the severity of his actions and the danger he represents, the sheriff has decided to refer Summers’ case to Scotland’s High Court for sentencing, as a sheriff court's penalty would be deemed insufficient.
Summers is known for his involvement in a series of heinous crimes, primarily targeting young children and minors through social media platforms such as Facebook and Snapchat.
His criminal activities included searching online for vulnerable young victims, engaging in manipulative and sexually inappropriate communication, and blackmailing minors to carry out sexual acts.
His disturbing conduct also involved luring minors away from their homes with promises and deceit, then sexually assaulting them.
One of the most alarming incidents detailed during his court appearance involved Summers helping a young girl travel across the country.
They set up camp in a city wasteland, where Summers engaged in unprotected sex with her.
His actions were part of a long pattern of sexual offenses that he admitted to committing over a period of twelve months, beginning in March 2021.
During this time, Summers admitted to a total of 19 charges related to child sexual offenses, while the Crown acknowledged 13 additional charges for which Summers pleaded not guilty.
His solicitor, David Duncan, expressed serious concerns about the risk Summers poses to society.
Duncan stated, “The court can properly form the view that the public would be at risk if Mr Summers was to have his liberty at this time.
I fully accept custody is appropriate and inevitable and that requires to be a relatively significant period to reflect the charges.
There is a danger he could become even more isolated or detached from society than he already is by the imposition of a considerable sentence.” Sheriff Brown echoed these sentiments, underscoring the seriousness of Summers’ conduct.
“The pattern of behaviour is such as to demonstrate that there is a likelihood, if he is at liberty, that he may endanger the lives or wellbeing of the public at large,” he stated.
Recognizing the gravity of the situation, Sheriff Brown decided to remit the case to the High Court of Justiciary for sentencing.
It is important to note that Summers is already serving an 18-month sentence, following his previous conviction for sharing messages about child rape and encouraging schoolgirls to participate in child abuse activities.
This prior conviction, combined with his recent admissions, underscores the dangerous nature of his offender profile.
During his latest court appearance, Summers admitted to serious offenses, including luring a 15-year-old girl from her home under false pretenses.
She believed he was only a few months older than her when they arranged to meet in a park in Dundee.
Immediately upon meeting her, Summers attempted to sexually assault her.
The girl, frightened of the consequences if she returned home, followed him to his flat, where she ended up staying for several days.
Court testimony revealed that Summers repeatedly attempted to touch her and, on one occasion, managed to remove her trousers before exposing himself.
Despite her distress, the girl managed to persuade him she should leave.
Further disturbingly, Summers broke bail by continuing to communicate with the girl afterward.
He also targeted another young girl, aged 13, blackmailing her into sending explicit photographs and demanding nude images while she was at school.
When she asked him to delete the images, he refused, stating, “I’m keeping everything.
You just need to be good and I will never post them.
If I ask you to do something I expect you to do it.
I’m willing to risk it.
You belong to me now.” Adding to his list of victims, Summers contacted a 14-year-old girl in Glasgow, who was unhappy and contemplating running away from her foster home.
He arranged to meet her in Glasgow on March 7, 2022, then traveled with her to Dundee via St Andrews, bringing a tent which they set up behind Iceland supermarket.
They spent the night in the tent and continued their activities over the next couple of days, shopping and staying in the makeshift shelter.
Summers engaged in unprotected sex with her, further evidencing his pattern of predatory behavior.
Summers is already registered as a sex offender for ten years due to a previous conviction involving similar behavior.
That earlier case involved him sending explicit images to minors and instructing a girl to engage in sexual acts with a child she was photographed with.
His online activities were primarily conducted through Snapchat, where he used the moniker “DundeeShock,” targeting innocent victims by sending disturbing messages such as, “Wanna see child porn?
I’ll rape your ass.
I’m gonna get you pregnant and rape the baby,” among others.
He also shared images of abused children and boasted about past acts of abusing a child he babysat, making vile threats and graphic comments to his victims.
Police investigations confirmed that Summers identified victims through their social media profiles in Dundee and surrounding areas, despite not being directly known to most of them.
This collection of offenses paints a stark portrait of a dangerously manipulative and sexually predatory individual whose actions have caused profound harm.
The court’s decision to remit his case to the High Court underscores the need for a severe and fitting punishment to address the gravity of his crimes and protect the community from any future threats.
