DUNDEE SEX ATTACKER LEE DUNCAN SENTENCED TO SIX MORE YEARS IN PRISON AFTER 25 YEARS
A sex attacker who started offending at the age of 14 has been sentenced to six additional years in prison over twenty-five years after the initial crimes.Lee Duncan, aged 41, was convicted by a jury at the High Court in Dundee of sexually assaulting two children over nearly six years, from 1996 to 2002.
Lady Wade stated, "You have been convicted of three charges of sexual offending spanning a period of six years.
The most serious involved a girl who was eight or nine, and you were 14 or 15.
You continued to abuse her until 2002." She added, "Your offending has had a profound effect on them.
The serious nature of the offending, coupled with the duration, has made a custodial sentence inevitable." Lady Wade also mentioned, "You yourself were a child when the first offence took place.
You have had a very troubled upbringing, being in residential care or a secure unit through a large part of your childhood." Duncan, of Wellfield Terrace, Aberchirder, denied guilt but accepted the jury's verdict.
His defense counsel, David Moggach, explained, "He has a broken and disrupted upbringing, and has faced various difficulties throughout life which made it hard for him to settle.
His position remains that he did not commit these crimes, but he must respect the jury's verdict.
He was 14 or 15 when the first charge was committed." Duncan was found guilty of attacking an eight or nine-year-old girl in Aberdeenshire in 1996, of lewd behaviour towards the same girl between February 2001 and February 2002, and of a similar offence against a second girl, who was 14, around the same period.
The court sentenced him to six years imprisonment, considering the grave nature of his offences and the impact on the victims.
