A social work student who was jailed for a rape committed in Dundee has been banned from working in the care sector.
Kieran Dalton, aged 27, has been sentenced to a five-year prison term after being convicted of a serious sexual assault that took place in Dundee.
The court heard details of the case, which led to Dalton's conviction, highlighting the severity of his actions and the impact on the victim.
Dalton's address was officially recorded at the High Court in Edinburgh as being in Perth and Kinross, although the crime itself occurred in Dundee.
In addition to his prison sentence, Dalton received a further 20 months of incarceration, which will run concurrently with his primary sentence.
This additional term was imposed due to his involvement in a pattern of domestic abuse, demonstrating a concerning history of violent behavior within his personal relationships.
Furthermore, the court mandated that Dalton be subjected to sex offender notification requirements indefinitely, ensuring ongoing monitoring and public safety.
To protect the complainant from further harassment or intimidation, a non-harassment order was issued, lasting for eight years.
