Kawa Abdullah

Hull Sexual Abuser

December 2020 Hull paedophile tried to meet 14-year-old girl for sex but came face to face with hunters A paedophile tried to meet a 14-year-old girl for sex in Hull only to discover he had actually been talking to a fake account run by a paedophile hunter group. On Thursday, Hull Crown Court heard how Kawa Abdullah, of Park Grove, had agreed to meet what he believed to be a 14-year-old girl named Bella after speaking with her online for three weeks. But Andrew Bailey, prosecuting, said Abdullah, 31, had actually been talking to Daniel Fitzgerald, a member of a so-called “paedophile hunter” group. Mr Bailey said Abdullah had been frequently reminded by the girl that she was only 14 during their messages, which began in December 2018, but that his conversations with her became increasingly sexual. He told her she was “gorgeous”, before going on to discuss potential sexual acts between them and asking for photos of her naked. After she told him she was worried about getting pregnant, the court heard he told her he would wear a condom. They agreed to meet outside a cafe near the railway station in Hull on January 5, 2019, the court heard, with Abdullah indicating that the girl should tell her mum she was with friends. But when he arrived, he was actually confronted by a group of the “hunters” who detained him until police arrived and arrested him. He did not have a condom on him when he was arrested, Mr Bailey told the court. In police interview, Abdullah indicated that he had carried on the conversations because he did not believe the girl was real. He said he was expecting to meet an adult woman on the day he was arrested. But he eventually pleaded guilty in court to the offences of attempting to incite a child to engage in sexual activity, attempting to meet a child following sexual grooming and attempting to communicate sexually with a child. Paul Genney, defending, said Abdullah, an Iranian-born Kurd who moved to the UK 11 years ago Sentencing him, Judge Mark Bury said: “If this child had been who you thought they were, she would have been less than half your age. “But it is clear you regret your behaviour, reflected in your discussions with the probation officer in which you said you need help.” Giving credit for his guilty pleas, Judge Bury sentenced Abdullah to two-and-a-half years in prison
