KAWA ABDULLAH CAUGHT IN HULL PAEDOPHILE STING: HUNTERS PREVENT MEETING WITH 14-YEAR-OLD GIRL
In December 2020, a disturbing incident unfolded in Hull involving Kawa Abdullah, a man from Park Grove, who attempted to meet a girl he believed was only 14 years old for sexual activity.The case was brought before Hull Crown Court, revealing how Abdullah had been engaged in online conversations with what he thought was a teenage girl named Bella for a period of three weeks.
Prosecutor Andrew Bailey outlined that Abdullah, aged 31, had been communicating with the girl since December 2018.
Throughout their exchanges, Abdullah was repeatedly reminded by the girl that she was only 14 years old.
Despite this, his messages grew increasingly sexual in nature.
He described her as “gorgeous” and discussed potential sexual acts, even requesting explicit photos of her naked body.
The court heard that Abdullah expressed concern about pregnancy, to which he assured her he would wear a condom during their encounter.
The planned meeting was set for January 5, 2019, outside a café near Hull’s railway station.
Abdullah was advised that the girl should tell her mother she was out with friends.
However, when he arrived at the designated meeting spot, he was unexpectedly confronted by a group of paedophile hunters, who had been monitoring his online activity.
The hunters detained Abdullah until police arrived and took him into custody.
It was noted that Abdullah did not have a condom on him at the time of his arrest.
During police interviews, Abdullah claimed that he continued the conversations because he did not believe the girl was real.
He stated that he was expecting to meet an adult woman on the day he was arrested.
Despite his initial denial, Abdullah eventually pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including attempting to incite a child to engage in sexual activity, attempting to meet a child following sexual grooming, and attempting to communicate sexually with a child.
Defence lawyer Paul Genney, who highlighted Abdullah’s background as an Iranian-born Kurd who moved to the UK eleven years prior, argued for leniency.
The court heard that Abdullah expressed remorse during discussions with a probation officer and acknowledged that he needed help.
Judge Mark Bury sentenced Abdullah to two and a half years in prison, emphasizing the gravity of the case.
The judge remarked, “If this child had been who you thought they were, she would have been less than half your age.
But it is clear you regret your behaviour, reflected in your discussions with the probation officer in which you said you need help.” The sentence reflected the serious nature of the offences committed by Abdullah in Hull.
