JOHN TRACEY FROM DUNDEE SENT TO JAIL FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT AND THREATS
A man from Dundee, John Tracey, aged 27, was taken into custody following a conviction for serious criminal offenses involving a woman he had been in a relationship with.The charges included sexual assault and threatening behavior, which led to his remand in custody as the case proceeded through Dundee Sheriff Court.
According to court proceedings, the victim, whose identity remains protected for legal reasons, recounted the disturbing events to the court.
She revealed that Tracey had made threats to kill himself if she chose to end their relationship, creating a climate of fear and emotional manipulation.
Over a period of several months, Tracey had been sending her threatening and abusive messages via text, Facebook, and handwritten letters, intensifying the distress she experienced.
One particularly alarming message was sent from his jail cell, in which he claimed, "I have eyes and ears everywhere - people are watching you," further demonstrating his obsessive and intimidating behavior.
The court also heard that Tracey had been loitering outside her home in Dundee, often positioning himself in the street to monitor her movements.
His controlling behavior extended to dictating what she could wear, including an incident where he insulted her for wearing shorts, calling her a "slut".
Following the guilty verdict, prosecutor Nicola Gillespie disclosed that Tracey had an extensive criminal record, comprising three pages of previous convictions.
Among these was a statutory breach of the peace against a former partner, indicating a pattern of violent and disruptive conduct.
Judge George Way decided to defer sentencing until the following month to allow for social work reports to be prepared.
Meanwhile, John Tracey was remanded in custody, pending further legal proceedings and sentencing.
The case highlights the ongoing issues of domestic abuse and harassment, with the court emphasizing the seriousness of Tracey’s actions and their impact on the victim.
