JOHN DOLAN FROM DUNDEE FINED FOR FAILING TO INFORM POLICE ABOUT US HOLIDAY
In December 2016, a serious breach of legal obligations by a convicted sex offender was brought to light in Dundee.John Dolan, aged 59 and residing on St Ninian Terrace, was found to have traveled to the United States without adhering to the strict reporting requirements mandated by the sex offenders register.
According to court records, Dolan failed to notify the police in advance of his travel plans to Dallas, Texas, which is a clear violation of the conditions set for registered sex offenders.
The law stipulates that individuals on the register must inform police at least seven days prior to leaving the country if their trip exceeds three days.
Dolan's failure to do so was considered a serious breach of these regulations.
As a result of his non-compliance, Dundee Sheriff Court imposed a fine of £550 on Dolan.
During the proceedings, he admitted to the offence of failing to provide the required notice to authorities before his departure.
This case highlights the ongoing monitoring and legal responsibilities placed on sex offenders to prevent any potential risk to the community, especially when traveling abroad.
Authorities continue to emphasize the importance of compliance with registration laws to ensure public safety and to uphold the integrity of the legal system designed to manage offenders' movements and activities.
