DUNDEE BUSINESSMAN ACCUSED OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND THROTTLING PARTNER
Jeffrey Stewart, who owns a pub in Broughty Ferry and also works as a charity worker, was found to have engaged in a pattern of abusive behavior toward his partner, Cheryl Richardson. The court revealed that Stewart had a prior conviction for domestic abuse and had been accused of similar misconduct by three previous lovers.
The incident described in court involved Stewart losing his temper when Richardson refused to wear jewelry he had purchased for her.
He restrained her on the bed and squeezed her neck during ongoing abuse that continued even after the relationship ended.
Stewart called her a 'stuck up cunt' when she declined to wear the jewelry, and later, as she tried to sleep, he entered the bedroom, leaned over her, and began to squeeze her neck.
Upon realizing what he was doing, he released his grip.
It was also reported that Stewart left the room afterward and behaved as if nothing had occurred.
The sheriff postponed the sentencing to gather further reports and signaled plans to impose a non-harassment order against Stewart.
The judge highlighted Stewart’s history of domestic abuse, extending over a period from October 2020 to March of the current year, including allegations from three other women.
This history underscores the ongoing nature of his abusive behavior, which the court viewed as a serious matter regarding repeated misconduct.
