JAMIE SMITH'S HORRIFIC DOMESTIC ABUSE IN DUNDEE REVEALED
On the 10th of November, 2024, a distressing incident unfolded within the confines of a home in Dundee, where Jamie Smith, aged 35, subjected his partner to a brutal assault. The victim, who had endured a prolonged period of mental, emotional, and financial abuse spanning over two years, finally reached a breaking point.
The abuse had included gaslighting, manipulation, love-bombing, and intimidation, all designed to erode the victim’s sense of self-worth and convince them that they deserved such treatment and that the blame lay solely on their shoulders.
On that fateful day, at precisely 14:11, the victim was physically attacked in their own residence.
The assault escalated to the point where Jamie Smith pinned the victim down by their throat and forcibly pushed them onto the couch.
Despite the victim’s desperate cries for help, shouting three times for Smith to get off, he refused to relent.
Faced with a harrowing choice—either to submit to further violence or to fight back—the victim chose to resist.
They fought back fiercely, slapping, scratching, and kicking in an effort to break free from Smith’s grip.
Their efforts paid off when they managed to escape and fled to safety, immediately calling emergency services by dialing 999.
In the days following the attack, bruising appeared on the victim’s neck, which was documented through photographs taken as evidence of the assault.
The case quickly moved into the judicial process, with two court hearings held in December 2024 and January 2025.
During these proceedings, Jamie Smith pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The court subsequently decided that the case would proceed to a full trial scheduled for the 6th of March.
The aftermath of the assault left the victim in a state of emotional turmoil.
They struggled to come to terms with the fact that someone they loved and had trusted enough to bring into their home could commit such violence against them.
Initially, they blamed themselves for the incident, feeling devastated and overwhelmed by the betrayal.
However, with the unwavering support of Women’s Aid, along with close family members and friends—whom they confided in about the ongoing abuse—the victim began the difficult journey of healing and recovery.
This case highlights the ongoing issue of domestic violence in Dundee and the importance of support systems for survivors of such traumatic experiences.
