JAMES FEARN FROM DUNDEE SENTENCED FOR CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE IN EDINBURGH COURT
In a recent and highly disturbing case, James Fearn, a 70-year-old resident of Dundee, has been sentenced to six years in prison following his conviction for historic child sexual abuse. The case was heard at the High Court in Edinburgh, where the court found Fearn guilty of multiple counts of rape and sexual assault involving three young girls over a span of several years.
According to reports, Fearn targeted his first victim in February 1977, when she was only nine years old.
Over the course of nearly six years, until January 1983, he repeatedly engaged in sexual acts with her against her will, causing significant trauma and suffering.
The abuse was described as ongoing and deeply invasive, with Fearn exploiting the trust of a young child.
Fearn’s criminal conduct did not end with his first victim.
He also sexually assaulted a second girl, who was 11 years old at the time, between June 1977 and December 1981.
The abuse was repeated multiple times during this period, further compounding the harm inflicted upon her.
The third victim, who was just 12 years old, was subjected to repeated sexual abuse by Fearn from February 1977 until November 1980.
The details of these assaults have been thoroughly documented during the trial, highlighting a pattern of predatory behavior spanning several years.
Throughout the proceedings, Fearn, who was employed by Dundee City Council before his retirement, maintained his innocence and denied all allegations.
Despite his denials, the court found sufficient evidence to convict him of the charges brought against him.
The NSPCC Scotland expressed hope that the six-year prison sentence would bring some measure of relief to the victims, acknowledging the long-lasting impact of such abuse.
The case has once again brought to light the importance of safeguarding children and the need for vigilance in protecting vulnerable individuals from exploitation and harm.
